Lookout Point

Location

Auckland, New Zealand

A spectacular renovation on the water’s edge, this groundbreaking architectural masterpiece was restored and realigned to its intended design and forms using smart renovation techniques and methodologies.

Originally designed by Hillery Priest Architecture, BESPOKE inherited this project, spectacularly positioned on a picturesque clifftop, north of Auckland.
Over the years, the home has gone through various alterations, so by the time we were introduced, the form had strayed from its initial groundbreaking design and was no longer in line with architect’s original vision.

Our challenge was to restore the elegance and architectural authenticity of this home in the most economical way possible. By using some very clever strategies, we stripped this coastal gem back to basics and reinstated its true architectural form and language.

Techniques, such as introducing a simple colour palette, allowed this makeover to modernise the home within budget. And the introduction of new stone benchtops, 100-percent recycled mosaic tiles, and fresh paintwork meant all the original kitchen and bathroom cabinetry could be retained.
